Teaching Ministries
Teaching and equipping believers to grow in faith, knowledge and commitment to God’s purpose
Preaching
The Teaching Council plans and co-ordinates Sunday morning messages and other biblical teaching that is culturally relevant and doctrinally pure. Good teaching, when correctly applied, helps us to become more like Jesus Christ as individuals and more effective as a church community, thus fulfilling the FBCC mission “to love God and love others”. Preaching is done by several individuals within the church who are recognized to have a clear gift of teaching and by occasional guest speakers. Sermon notes are available in the weekly bulletin.
Weekly messages are available online (www.forestbrook.ca) to listen to or download. They may also be purchased on CD through the church office.
The current teaching series is: The Three "R's" of Parenting
Library
The FBCC library boasts over 2000 fiction and non-fiction books, DVDs and CDs for Christian readers of all ages and stages of life. The library is located to the left as you enter the foyer and is open after each Sunday service. We encourage everyone to take the time to visit the library and check out the excellent choice of reading material.
Seminars
Periodically, special teaching seminars are held at FBCC to address specific issues and concerns of particular relevance to the Christian life. Previous seminars have focused on topics such as bible study habits, parenting, marriage enrichment and financial management from a Christian perspective.
Saturday Bible School
The Forest Brook adult bible school course entitled "Foundations" runs once a month from September to June (8:30 am - 12 pm). The course includes lectures, handouts, multimedia presentations and discussion. Currently we offer an Old Testament Survey one year and a New Testament Survey the next. Students are required to purchase a specified textbook and accomplish set reading and homework assignments.
