Honouring God in all we do

Sunday Morning Worship
Worship is at the heart of our relationship with God, individually and corporately, and brings pleasure to Him. Each occasion of worship is a celebration of His love made known to us through Jesus Christ. We gather on Sunday mornings at 10am for corporate worship to experience God’s presence and to glorify Him. In so doing, we edify, equip and encourage the body of Christ at Forest Brook. In addition to relevant teaching, powerful music, corporate prayer, and the weekly celebration of communion, our worship service often includes other avenues of celebration such as readings, drama, video presentations and dance. On the last Sunday of most months we gather as worshippers of God in a less formal setting. This time is set aside for people of all ages to come prepared to engage in worship that is creative and at times may push the boundaries of what one thinks typically of "church" worship. The use of teh arts is encouraged as we explore ways to engage all of our body, mind, soul and strength in worship.
Baptism
The baptism of believers with water (by full immersion as taught in the bible) is a sign that a person has repented, received forgiveness, died to sin and accepted the gift of grace offered by Jesus Christ. It is an act of obedience and a public statement of one’s new identity in Christ, having received Him by faith as Saviour and Lord – an outward sign of inward faith. Those who are interested in baptism at Forest Brook (held at least twice a year) will meet with staff to discuss the biblical understanding of baptism and to share their faith journey. Contact Jim Chen (youth) at 905.427.3442, ext.105; Kathy Ribble (children) at 905.427.3442, ext.107; or Don Palmer (adults) at 905.427.3442, ext.101.
Art Gallery
We are created in the image of God. Through our lives and creativity we give expression to who we are, we allow others to gain new perspectives and perhaps to see life with a fresh set of eyes.We want to encourage creative expression through art and make it available for others to enjoy and appreciate. To this end, we now of our own Art Gallery in the Forest Brook lounge.
This is a space where we can all enjoy the exhibits by artists known and unknown, from within our community or from the outside. Submissions for display can be made to James Ruddle.
Current Display:
James Ruddle's Ontario North Series will be on display in the Forest Brook Art Gallery in the Lounge from Sunday September 20, 2009 to October 20, 2009. This series was heavily influenced by the artist’s ventures into the wilderness of northern Ontario. The landscapes of Algonquin Park, Sudbury and the Madawaska Valley are easily recognizable. These landscapes are monumentalized by recreating them using elements of fire, water and pigment.
While the northern Ontario series appears to be a complete 180 turn from the artist’s last series “Contrasting Toronto”, in which the urban Toronto landscape was juxtaposed with natural landscapes; this current series greatly complements the previous work. The artist continues to explore the beauty of Canadian landscapes in all their forms. The exaggerated and enhanced colour of these pieces, glorifies the richness of the natural landscape and becomes a tribute to its organic artistry.
